This year I want to begin my own food garden to obviously grow my own vegetables but to also to save money around the house and for the learning experience due to I am new to growing my own vegetables. I am currently building the wall for my food garden, so I am using this blog as a personal progress report on how I'm going, where I'm heading with it and any information or ideas I have come across to help me.
I have started building the wall using materials such as red bricks, concrete blocks and concrete pavers recycled from my fathers landscaping business.
My idea of using the recycled materials was to reuse them because they were just sitting around and I hope by using these materials without mortar will create a garden box with good drainage. It also gives the garden a industrial look which I very much enjoy.
My next move after finishing the wall is to find a suitable and sustainable watering system and weed and pest control system.
Nice idea recycling the bricks and concrete. I remember having a whole bunch of brick laying around at my parents house growing up that should have been used for something like this. 15 years later the bricks have been used but not for a vege garden unfortunately. Looking forward to the progress on this project.
